I have been to Chinatown thousands of times and have never felt unsafe. Having said that, people’s ideas and perspectives on safety vary per individual and their experiences.

The city’s design, with wide sidewalks and pedestrian-friendly streets, facilitates walking around various attractions. Also, driving in San Francisco can be crazy. Parking is worse.

Restaurants in Chinatown start to close around 9:00 pm. Shop closures vary by owner. But in my experience, most are shutting down around 5:00 or 6:00 pm. And are open seven days a week.

I’ve never had a better burrito than the Mission-Style Burrito.Originating from the Mission District, these are large burritos filled with various ingredients like rice, beans, and meats. And they are the best. I used to have to have one at least once a week. 

Now, the famous Tartine Bakery is everywhere. There are a few in Los Angeles, one just two miles from my home. 

But when I lived in San Francisco, the only Tartine in the country was in the Mission District. They truly make the best Almond croissants and baked goods I have had. 

San Francisco is also famous for Ghirardelli Chocolate, a historic and beloved chocolate brand; Ghirardelli has been a part of San Francisco’s culinary landscape since the mid-19th century.
